In an evening dedicated to revolutionary style, sound and ideas, the ASQ presents three masterpieces, by Prokofiev, Debussy and Dvorak, whose innovations in expression helped spark the boundless creativity of the 20th century.  Prokofiev’s Quartet No.2 opens the concert with irrepressible folk-inspired sounds of the Caucasus Mountains, and is followed by Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor, where influences of world-music and exoticism blend to create a tapestry of color, light and energy.  Dvorak’s Quartet in A-flat Major, Op.105 closes the evening with a journey through lush melodies and harmonies that are full of nostalgic reflection and inspiring optimism.  Don’t miss this evening of unforgettable music!

Franz Schubert: Quartet in D Minor, D.810 “Death and the Maiden” 

The ASQ presents an evening of musical giants, opening with Haydn’s eloquent quartet in G Major, Op.54, No.1, where we have the opportunity to experience the father of the string quartet at the height of his compositional brilliance, and closing the evening with Schubert’s Quartet in D Minor, D.810 “Death and the Maiden”, a musical epic like no other.  Highlighting the evening is the return of Grammy Award-winning oboe virtuoso, Alex Klein, back to the Touhill, for another thrilling collaboration with the ASQ!

The Arianna Quartet closes out their St. Louis season with a gathering of timeless chamber music powerhouses that present a balance of elegant clarity and intimate expression.  The genius of Mozart is on full display in his Quartet in B-flat Major, K.589, where a synthesis of perfection in melody and color come together to create stunning beauty.  The ASQ follows with Bartok’s rhapsodic Quartet No.1, and closes the evening with celebrated pianist Judy Gordon in performance of Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, a true musical tour de force.   Join the ASQ for this phenomenal season finale!
